Incoming President’s Letter
Minnesota Metro EWGA Members --
This
2008 year certainly has gone by quickly. Summers here in Minnesota
seem to fly by and already, it seems, we’re starting to prepare for
the holidays and ready ourselves for our chilly Minnesota winter. As November starts, our new board is
in place to finalize our 2008 year and we’re just starting to plan
for 2009. 2008 has been a very
active year for our local EWG chapter with many successful events:
- In March, we had
very successful Tee-Off to start our 2008 year and last month,
attended a fun, festive Oktoberfest to close out the year.
- Our 19th-Hole
events throughout the 2008 have offered consistent opportunities for
our members to meet each other for both socializing and networking; these
will continue on a monthly basis and I encourage you to try and attend
them to stay connected.
- Our 13 leagues
provided 182 players (77.2% of our membership) with planned, regular
league golf dates this past summer; our Sunday golf events offered
opportunities for those who couldn’t commit to leagues –
or who wanted to get in that extra 18-hole game on a Sunday.
- Our Golf Education
committee set up 20 clinics and education events for our membership
starting in March and continuing through most of the summer –
including everything from “Getting Started” to
“Rules and Etiquette” to clinics and specialty golf stroke
series.
- Our chapter
championship in July provided an excellent opportunity for our members
to compete at their own level – and also offered social play
opportunities for those who chose not to play competitively.
- We have had a
phenomenal group of sponsors throughout 2008 who have supported our
efforts throughout the year – in exchange for support and
patronage from our membership.
Their investment in our organization helps defray costs and
provide you with excellent prizes and awards. Please continue to
support our sponsors now – and throughout the coming year.
- As always, our
volunteers made this organization – and our local chapter
– a great success. I, personally, want to extend my thanks to
the 2007/2008 Board Members for their many, many efforts and hours of
work. I also want to thank
those of you who stepped forward to volunteer in some way, large or
small, to make our chapter and our events a success.
Finally,
I want to thank all of you for continuing to support EWGA through your
annual membership. I know that
each year you make a choice to renew your membership and your local board,
along with the EWGA National team, have the responsibility of delivering
good value for your membership.
We have a great 2008/2009 board in place who
is anxious to ensure that our local EWGA chapter continues to meet your
needs and deliver what you want. If you have thoughts or ideas for
improving our chapter or would like to provide your feedback on our
organization’s activities and events, please feel free to contact me
directly via email or phone.
