Announcements: Build and Maintain Your Handicap

Title

Build and Maintain Your Handicap

Body

Maintaining a handicap is important for all EWGA members. Those members who maintain a handicap understand the value -- for tracking their improvement throughout the season (and season to season) and enabling them to compete fairly with others.  Our local chapter offers two options for handicap tracking.
  • Golf Life Management System - this is free with your EWGA membership and allows you to plan in all EWGA events and tournaments and enables you to track your progress.  All you have to do is activate the system and enter your scores.
  • GHIN - this option is coordinated through Rush Creek Golf Courses.  While a GHIN is not necessary for competing in EWGA events, it is required for MWPGA (Minnesota Women's Public Golf Association) events and may be better received for other non-EWGA competitive tournaments.

There are some leagues (all 18-hole leagues and more advanced 9 hole leagues) where our chapter is requiring that members starting tracking their handicap (an established handicap will be a criteria for accepting players in leagues in 2011).  While it is not required for others, we highly encourage ALL EWGA players to start and maintain a handicap.

It takes 5 18-hole rounds to establish a handicap and 10 9-hole rounds to establish one.  Several events (in particular our Chapter Championship) require a handicap be established by mid-June -- so get those rounds in and make sure they are tracked.

At the end of the year, we have prizes for the most improved handicaps through the year.
